When I was younger, I got in trouble with my oldest brother, which landed him in prison, but God gave me another chance. With that chance, I turned my life around.
In what ways do you actively live out your faith in your daily life — at work, home, or in your community?
Just trying to let my light shine.
What encouragement or scripture has been especially meaningful to you in this season, and why?
Exodus 14:14: The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Just teaching me to let God do the fighting, not me.
What advice would you give to someone who’s struggling to live out their faith or looking to grow spiritually?
Keep fighting because the enemy is strong but God is the strongest.

Welcome back to another episode of Living My Faith, where we highlight those who are making Kingdom impact. I’m Morgan Yonge, joined today by Derrick Richardson with Derrick Richardson, P.A. How are you?
Derrick:
Thank you, Morgan. I’m doing great. How about you?
Morgan:
I’m doing so well. Thank you for being on the show today and for sharing your faith with us. I want to start with one big question. How are you living your faith?
Derrick:
Every day. My faith is who I am. I’m nothing without my faith. Every single day, I live it through every aspect of my life, whether it’s career, family, or anything else. I’m living my faith daily.
Morgan:
Absolutely. Let’s talk about your career. You’re a realtor, a property appraiser, and soon-to-be an adjunct professor.
Derrick:
That’s exciting. Oh yeah, for sure. I can’t wait. I’m definitely excited about it.
Morgan:
Let’s dive in. Brag about yourself for a moment.
Derrick:
In real estate, I typically work with buyers, sellers, and investors. On the property management side, I manage different types of properties, whether that’s Airbnb, short-term rentals, or long-term rentals. Later this year, I’ll also be starting as an adjunct professor at the University of Florida, which feels like a full-circle moment.
I went from not wanting to attend class in high school to now becoming a professor myself.
Morgan:
That is exciting. I love it. What brought you to faith?
Derrick:
I was definitely introduced through my parents. Growing up, they raised me and my siblings around the church. We were church kids, doing homework at church and all of that.
I kind of strayed away during my high school years, getting into trouble with my older brother. But just like the prodigal son, God brought me back.
Morgan:
What a blessing that is. What fruit have you seen in your life since coming back to Christ?
Derrick:
Everything. I can attribute everything to God and my faith. From earning my bachelor’s degree, to my master’s with Purdue, to running my own business. I didn’t come from a family of entrepreneurs, so I really built it from the ground up.
I’ve also taken my passion for others into community outreach and the work I do through my church.
Morgan:
I love that. Your father is in ministry and is a pastor now. Where does he pastor?
Derrick:
He pastors Glorious Bethlehem Temple on the Southside, not too far from the San Marco area. The address is 2051 Ashland Street.
Morgan:
That’s fantastic. Tell me more about your relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Derrick:
It’s an amazing relationship, but it’s one I’m constantly working on. Like any relationship, whether it’s friendship or marriage, you have to invest in it every day. That’s what I try to do with God.
Morgan:
What does that look like for you? Is it Bible study, praise and worship, or quiet prayer time?
Derrick:
It’s a mix. Just like a marriage, you need multiple ways to invest. This year, I’ve been spending more time in my study Bible and drawing closer to God, especially as I prepare for fatherhood.
I’m about to be a father in a few months.
Morgan:
That’s amazing. Congratulations.
Derrick:
Thank you. I’m realizing I’ll have a little version of me looking up to me, and I’ll be his example. I want to be the best man I can be so I can inspire him to do the same.
Morgan:
So it’s a boy.
Derrick:
It is, and he’s going to be named after me.
Morgan:
Even more reason. The remix version.
Derrick:
He’ll be way better than me.
Morgan:
We can pray about that.
Derrick:
For sure.
Morgan:
I love that. Now, diving into the real estate and property management side, how are you using your faith to grow your business?
Derrick:
I like to call myself the People’s Realtor. That’s how I brand myself, even on my car. My faith helps me focus on what the customer wants, not just what I want out of a transaction.
In business, it’s easy to forget that when you invest in people, God will bless you in other ways.
Sometimes other realtors ask me for advice, and I’m not the type to charge for everything. I’ll sit down over lunch or coffee and share what I know. What God has for you is for you, and what He has for me is for me, so I don’t need to hold anything back.
Morgan:
We live in a world of abundance, especially with Him on our side.
Derrick:
Absolutely.
Morgan:
